明代李時珍《本草綱目》中稱之為「茶蛀蟲」，乾隆年間還曾成為貢品。沖泡後香味濃鬱，具有清熱祛暑、解毒健胃的功效，且以陳年者為貴。此批陳年蟲茶，綠茶為原料，陳化約五十年，茶味異特，茶色黑漆，滲出松木香帶甘。蟲茶品種少見，市場產量少。 Insect tea has beneficial medicinal effects such detoxifying and aiding digestion, and has been offered as a tribute since the reign of Emperor Qianlong.
