Each of the famille rose horseshoes-shaped porcelain teacup, with a slightly flared mouth, decorated with overglaze enamels in famille rose style of design of butterfly and mantis flying amidst blossoming peonies, budding flowers and lush leaves. The mouth rim and foot rim are painted with golden lines. The bright and finest colors make the whole picture vivid and vibrant. Peony, mantis and butterfly represent prosperity and happy life.

“Famille rose”, also known as Fencai, is a technique that blending opaque white pigment with other enamels to create a wider variety of colors and subtler shades. This technique had been introduced to China during the mid-Qing dynasty (1644-1912 CE), and later become one of the dominant art techniques in China.
