This Leitz Wetzlar 2/50 lens in collapsible LTM mount is a genuine and all original factory prototype of the later Summicron. Without type or serial number engraving, it remembers to the “Summitar*” design. The aperture ring does carry an additional index for f/22. The front ring bears the engraving “E” only. It has been reported one similar engraving “D” on another early Summicron prototype with “SummiKron” engraving. Probably there was a series of such experimental lenses by the time, names “A, B, C, D, E”.
