The Oskar Barnack Award honors great photographers. The practice of awarding a solid silver medal started in the early 1980’s until 1991. Mr. Hans-Guenther Von Zydowitz of Leitz was in charge of this program in the 1980’s. The medal comes in a beautiful presentation case in around 250 grams. The silver content alone makes it valuable.
