Serial no.1249905,1969-70,Condition A/A-
Rare Leica M2R outfit. During the Vietnam war about 2000 Leica M2's were ordered by the US government to Leica. Those cameras were regular M2's but with the rapid loading system of the M4's cameras and are known as M2 KS even though on the top plate there are no special engravings. At the end the US government didn't buy the all lot so the unsold cameras were given to official Leica dealers to be sold to the public. On the top plate after M2 was added an R (M2R) which means "Rapid loading system". Those cameras were sold with a very late production Summicron's 50/2 Dual Range lens with a tall box, so that the camera, the lens and the E.R.case could fit inside. It is very rare to find an original double boxed outfit (camera+matching DR-Summicron) with the original papers and guarantee cards. It comes with Summicron-M 2/50mm (#2357590), goggles and both lens caps, body cap. The camera shows some slight sign of use while the lens is in mint condition.
