Leitz Canada rare original Elmarit-M 2.8/21mm lens. It is estimated that only a few such lenses exist as most were withdrawn by Leitz once the defect was discovered; and the remaining lenses were modified by Leitz. The 21mm Elmarit were introduced at Photokina 1980, together with the Leica M4-P. The very first design had an E49 front filter thread mount, which made the lens looking very similar to the 28mm Elmarit of the time. However, the E49 lens design showed cut-off at maximum aperture when a filter was attached. Leitz immediately withdraw the E49 design and changed to E60. Most of the originally produced E49 lenses were converted to E60. Itcan be estimated that only a few dozens of the original E49 design lenses have survived. It comes with both lens caps and an ultra-rare lens hood.
