This lot has been well-preserved in natural storage and features the seal and signature of renowned tea expert Mr. Deng Shihai, adding to its rarity and value. Fu Yuan Chang Hao is known in three variations - Purple Mark and Green Mark for their bold character, and White Mark for a milder profile. After a century of aging, the tea is remarkably smooth and fragrant, with rich camphor notes and a long-lasting finish.
Before the late Qing Dynasty, Pu-er teas from the Yibang region were the most prized, especially the small-leaf variety used as imperial tribute. Fu Yuan Chang Hao and Song Pin Hao are often referred to as the "Tea Empress" and "Tea Emperor." Fu Yuan Chang Hao specialized in premium teas distinct from the common Yiwu large-leaf types, representing the pinnacle of Pu-er craftsmanship during the Qing era.
Each stack included both inner tickets and an inner flyer, designed to prevent counterfeiting. These were hand-stamped and printed on glutinous rice paper, which rarely survives intact due to age and insect damage, adding further historical significance to this lot.
