正宗的武夷山大紅袍被譽為「茶中之王」，生長在九龍窠內的一座陡峭的岩壁上，現僅存六棵大紅袍母樹，年產茶葉少於五百克，號稱比金還貴，比玉還珍。經茶師評定，大紅袍茶沖九遍以上，仍不脫武夷岩茶之岩韻與甘烈，「茶中之王」名不虛傳。
