白茶素有「一年茶﹑三年藥﹑七年寶」之說，一般五﹑六年的白茶就可算老白茶，超過二十年的老白茶已經非常難得，本拍品更有二十多年之久，難能可貴。明朝李時珍《本草綱目》描述：「茶生於崖林之間，味苦，性寒涼，具有解毒﹑利尿﹑少寢﹑解暑」等功效，可見古人們早就發現白茶的藥用價值，是為養生佳品。
