This lens head is of an early experimental state, with diaphragm-index hand-engraved. It was probably from optical bench testing, Optical formula B679. Leica produced three such lens heads with serial numbers 0000459 - 0000461 between November 1960 and February 1961.The lens head here mounted in a later serial production helicoid from Summilux 50mm. Please refer to L&H Auction 1 catalogue, p.31 for more details, the lens illustrated inside is 0000460 and is in sequence with the number of this lens (#0000459).
