This is an early prototype lens with prototype serial number 5597436, using early gold coating. “Ernst Leitz GmbH. Wetzlar Super-Angulon” was engraved on the name ring where both capital letters and small letters were used, but the production products were changed the engraving into all capital letters to “LEITZ WETZLAR SUPER-ANGULON”. Also, there is an engraving on the rear of the lens which is absent on the production products. This lens comes with both caps.
