ESTIMATE:HK$ 500,000 - 700,000
Serial no.606128/606129,1951-1952,Condition A/A
Leitz designer Erwin Neurath combined a between-the-lens central shutter with the fitting of a Summicron 5cm lens to enable a higher electronic flash sync speed of at 1/100 and 1/200 sec. A special release arm mounted to the camera first closed the central shutter, then opened the focal plane shutter of the Leica IIIf (set to "B") and then released the exposure with the central shutter. Only 150 lenses with such usually assembly were produced. 58 of them were sold officially and the rest was sold to Leitz employees after being kept in factory for almost 20 years. Both cameras and lenses are in consecutive numbers: #1152135 and #1152136 for lenses, extremely rare. They both come with front lens caps. Please refer to James Lager Vol. II p.57-58 for illustration.
