Leitz Wetzlar rare original prototype Hektor 1:2.5/12cm lens in black. The development of the Hektor 12.5 cm Visoflex lens begun on experimentation with 12 cm Hektor projection lenses, mounted on the Visoflex. An input given by Leica pioneer Walter Benser, who found the projection lens extremely good and was excited to see results with this lens in fact used for taking pictures. The black lens here is already a complete Leica Visoflex mount lens, with helical and diaphragm. It is without serial number. It seems to be a one of a kind and is published in the Wilhelm Albert’s book ‘Geburtstage der Leitz-Foto-Konstruktionen ab 1927’ page 152 (116), reference given for the date of the design is the year of 1949. In 1950, the black lens was followed by a small pre-series in chrome, within the 7530XX serial number range, before the lens was commercially introduced as Hektor 12.5cm in 1954. Please compare Lager Vol. II (lenses), pages 92 and 93. This lens comes with a Standard in black painted (#104226), POOIM 30X swing-in magnifier showing and a mirror reflex housing Visoflex PLOOT (#7183). This lens has been authenticated by Lars Netopil.
