Founded in the early Republic period, Chen Yun Hao was among the most prominent tea houses of its time, owning nearly half of the tea gardens in Manla Tea Mountain. At its peak between 1900 and 1933, the brand dominated trade across Southeast Asia, supplying regions such as Vietnam and Hong Kong, and accounting for nearly one-third of the market. Renowned for its rigorous leaf selection and exquisite craftsmanship, it operated its own mule and horse caravans to source the finest old-arbor leaves. Surviving Chen Yun Hao cakes are exceptionally rare and are ranked among the five greatest antique Hao-grade teas, alongside Song Pin Hao, Tong Qing Hao, Tong Xing Hao, and Fu Yuan Chang Hao. This lot has been preserved in mild dry to natural storage and remains in complete condition, though the stack ticket survives only in small remnants. The black-on-white inner ticket, featuring a sun emblem and the inscription "Chen Yun Gui Yin," bears faint ink marks from the wooden seal. The stack ticket, also stamped in blurred text, is made from thin cotton paper with a waxed surface and features a distinctive 45-degree corner cut. Together, these details indicate production from the late Qing to early Republic period, precisely during Chen Yun Hao's peak of prestige. The black-on-white version denotes a higher-grade production. The cakes are large and loosely compressed, with thick, lustrous chestnut-hued leaves and golden buds. The liquor offers a smooth, rich taste with distinct medicinal notes, perfectly embodying the refined character of authentic Yiwu mountain tea. As an extraordinary antique masterpiece, it stands as a Pu-er of exceptional rarity and enduring historical significance.
