1980s Pu’er Teas Were Highly-Sought-After
&H Auction concluded its Autumn 2020 Sale
last Saturday on 28 November at the L&H Cultural Space located on the 15th
Floor, Windsor House, Causeway Bay.
Thanks to the support from seasoned and new collectors, the selections
from the three sales were well-responded, of which the sale of Vintage Pu’er Tea and Premium Tea in particular achieved impressive
results: A Stack of Red Mark Pu’er Tea
Cake, circa 1950s sold for HKD6.865million (Est: HKD3.8
million to 6 million), making it the top lot of the sale. A Stack of Four Pieces of
'Keyixing' Tea Brick from the 1930s, on the other hand, achieved HKD4.22
million. Pu’er teas from the 1980s were
also high-sought-after at the sale.

This legendary King of Pu’er
is the
only raw pu’er tea brick in the market, and there is
only very
few Ke YiXing available in
the market after years of consumption. This lot has
been aged evenly, possessing all the superlatives of the finest vintage pu’er
tea.

This stack of seven Red
Mark Pu’er tea cakes from the 1950s boasts pristine condition and
immaculate original wrapping. A
charismatic and aromatic ‘drinkable antique’, Red Mark pu’er is a famous aged,
fermented Chinese tea very much sought after in the market nowadays.

‘Gam San Lau’ was a renowned
teahouse in the old Hong Kong. For
convenience’s sake, the teahouse stored Red Mark pu’er tea cakes unwrapped to
save space without compromising the quality.
Their dry storage and ideal conditions give unique taste and character
to the pu’er tea. The scent is vibrant,
and the taste is of full-body with layers.

Blue Mark Pu’er Raw Tea Cakes from the 1950s are on
a par with the earlier Red Marks, made of fresh green raw materials from
Menghai. They boast distinguished smoothness accented with a soft
mellowness. The delicate musky aftertaste
intertwines with a delicate mellowness from its naturalistic aging process
throughout the past years, making this the ideal beverage to savour the beauty
of the renowned Blue Marks.
