Autumn Sale 2021 on Saturday, 27 November 2021, in L&H Cultural Space on
15/F, Windsor House, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.
A pioneering international premium pu’er tea auction house, L&H will
continue to offer this season its renowned Vintage Pu’er Tea and Premium Tea
Auction, introducing to the market an array of prestigious
pu’er teas spanning over 100 years.
From Hao-grade, Yin-grade, Seven Sons Raw Tea Cakes to
the new generation of pu’er teas from the 2000s, these gems are testament to
the glorious history of Chinese pu’er tea and L&H’s zealous response to the
growing collecting demand for quality pu’er tea.
The highlight of this season is A
Stack Extremely rare and fine vintage of ‘Song Pin Hao’ Pu’er Tea Cake from before 1917 (Est:
HKD6.8 million – 12.8 million). It is the first
time for this Song Pin Hao appear in the Auction Market. It has been aged in
the perfect condition and wrapped in the original bamboo shell. The sale will
also feature a series of 1970s - 80s pu’er tea cake including A Stack of 7572
Pu-er Tea Cake from The First Batch from mid 1970s (Lot 122), Two Stacks of
8582 Pu-er Tea Cake in Thick Wrapping from Late Mid 1980s (Lot 119) and A Stack
of 88 Pu-er Tea Cake from Late 1980s (Lot 101).

This ‘Song Pin Hao’ as known as ‘Emperor of Tea” was first seen in the market. After aging for over a century, this stack of pu-er tea cakes are in the perfect condition and wrapped in the original bamboo shells. they are scented with the natural wood aroma with a fragrance of herbal medicine.

The shape of the tea leaf appears to be plumped with fullness and inhibits a shiny exterior, the brewed tea delicately fragranced and of a precious golden tone in color. The Red Mark Pu-er Tea Cake has been through over six decades of the naturalistic aging process, the rarity of which is well-documented with the passage of time.

The Blue Mark Pu-er tea cakes are commonly wrapped in handmade Yunnan cotton paper, inscribed with its categorical characters but its trademark ticket does not specify its production location. The raw materials used to produce the limited Blue Mark Pu-er tea cakes were harvested from the six great tea mountains in the Menghai County of Xishuangbanna. This category of tea is generally believed to be a product of the Xiaguan Tea Factory around the 1950s. The surface of the tea cake is slightly curved, reminiscence of the shape of a bowl and exhibits the color of a dark luminosity. This lot is preserved in the traditional storage of Hong Kong.

The first and only batch of 7572 Pu-er Tea Cakes is experimental. However, after aging of several decades, the aged 7572 Pu-er Tea Cakes taste sweet and soft with a slight medicine fragrance. This lot is preserved in the natural but partially dry storage.

This stack of Yellow Mark Pu-er Tea cakes comprises seven pieces, and is preserved in the dry storage. They are wrapped with the original package, remaining original good condition. The combination of tea leaves of this mark is similar to the one with the red mark, containing a large portion of tea buds.

This lot is made from the tea leaves from Ban Zhang Mountain, which has many ancient and tall tea trees in the natural and well-preserved environment. The feature of "Ban Zhang" tea cakes is that they are quickly transformed. Therefore, the bitterness of the brewed tea will be lightened. This lot is kept in the absolutely dry storage.

Gold Teapot with Taotie Pattern
This teapot is crafted with pure gold, with a flat
teapot mouth, a narrow neck, broad shoulders, a bulging belly, and an arched
lid with a mushroom-cap-shaped finial. The main body of the teapot is fully
carved with the pattern of Taotie in low relief from the body up to the finial.
Underneath the decoration of Taotie, the artisan carved the dense ground
pattern, while the rim of the lid is adorned with a circle of thunder pattern
of ancient bronze wares, which is adding another layer of majesty to the Taotie
pattern. The mouth of the spout is shaped in a phoenix head, and the teapot is
fitted with a simple squared loop handle with rounded corners.

Carved Sterling Silver Hanging Censer
This incense burner made in sterling silver, also
known as "ball-shaped incense burner" or "incense ball", consists
of two semicircular bodies interlocked to form a complete sphere with a movable
incense box inside. The incense ball is suspended by three brocade ropes and
decorated with tassels. When the censer smokes, the fragrance emanates from the
silver carved pattern of flower clusters, as if in the midst of a heavenly
paradise. The interior detachable incense box is inlaid with floral
embellishments in relief, presenting the infinite vitality of life.
