This unnamed Leitz Wetzlar Summarit 1.4/50mm, serial number 0000189, is a genuine and all original factory prototype lens between Summarit 1.5/50mm and Summilux 1.4/50mm. This lens is designed with infinity lock, the infinity index set 90˚ to the right (15˚˚h position from the front view) while the diaphragm index is still located at the 12˚˚h position. The mount appears completely different with the later version, in E41 instead of E43. The lens provenance is the estate of Rainer Merkel, formerly head of DPA (Deutsche Presse Agentur) in Frankfort. Same series lens with later serial number was sold at EUR94,000 in 2013, very rare. This lens has been authenticated by Lars Netopil.
It comes with filter, rear lens cap and authenticated letter by Lars Netopil.
